Shenanigans at Geysir. Never seen anything like it.

Bård wants to transfer some of Geysirs power to help him through the night.

Say, what's your secret to sudden growth?

What do you want? Dirty old town? NO!!!

That's a mans grip of the microphone!

Stig plays his flute with dedication.

Cant play now. Busy drinking. I'll join you in a second...

Oh yes! Good looking fans. Can I get you anything? Seconds after Bård disappears off to the bar... Without missing a beat he returns before the end of the song with a pint of Guinness.

We set off on thursday morning to go to Reykjavik. We all had to get to the airport at quarter to nine at the latest because Håvard wanted us to have plenty of time to make the flight. I'll make a point out of this later.
However being a true musician Bård managed to go straight on the bus without any sleep at all that night. Not very strange since the bus left at about the time he usually goes to bed. Point is he made it.

Not much to tell about Gardermoen. That place is as boring as an airport can be. We had time to grab a couple of beers though. Not much else to do really.

Getting onboard the plain with three guitars and a banjo is a pain but evetually we got seated. I was glad I didn't send my guitar as special baggage as suggested by the airline company. Because the only things that didn't arrive as it should was the special baggage. Bummer! Luckily the band playing after us at the Dubliner agreed to lend us some of their gear for the week-end. A brilliant gang. We hereby wish to thank them again. Not much Shenanigans without proper drums for Anders. His respatex hammering days are over. Håvards clothes also got lost in the process, but as you can't cut a bald mans hair it wasn't much of a disaster. Baggage and cymbals arrived next day. Unharmed.

Friday and saturday were brilliant. How people in Reykjavik manage to get up in the morning to open up shops is amazing. Pubs and bars closing at 6 in the morning. Quite unusual for us coming from Norway. We especially wish to thank Berglind, Heidis and the rest of the gang for attending both nights. You guys rule! The fact that the word of Shenanigans got to Iceland before we actually got there ourself was a bit of a surprise. However a very welcome one. As a rule good looking ... ehh ... dancers are always welcome to a Shenanigans gig. Special care will be taken to ensure a good evening.

Saturday was spent sight-seeing by car. With Håvard and Asle as drivers the band slightly reluctantly set out to view Geysir , Gullfoss and the blue lagoon. Unfortunately time didn't permit the blue lagoon. Next time. Geysir is one of the most spectacular sights I have ever seen. It was great seeing it in winter when you could really tell that heat is dissipated from the ground. Didnt find the switch for the mother of all geysirs though. Shame.

Saturday our plane left at half past seven in the morning. Not much point in going to bed the majority of the band decided. However being one of the eldest in the band I went for an hour and a half of sleep. The gang that turned up at the airport must have got the guards going though. A tired hungover band with just ten minutes to check in and to go to the gate. Good thing that Anders had to pack his trusted Leatherman as hand-luggage. And a good thing that Bård didn't have to wait any longer than necessary. And finally: Good thing that Håvard told us all that the plane left at five past eight and not half past seven. That made the morning complete. Anyway, after delaying the plane for twenty minutes (wonder how much that costs?) we were on our way home. Very tired but with a lot of new friends and with many good memories. Anders and Bård took about a week to recover but now we're ready for more Shenanigans. Give us a word and we'll meet up over a pint in your hometown.
